If you are living in New York or you are just traveling to the big apple, if you find yourself at Grand Street then you must see Ryan McGinley solo exhibition presented at Team Gallery. The New York-based artist, which presents “Winter” uses his camera like a tool to narrate his Road Trips done with his team in a specific time of the year in upstate New York. Rather than exploring the American landscape through the lens of geographical variation, these images scrutinize and poeticize its temporal metamorphosis. The Winter series portrays nude figures in frozen landscapes and there is virtually no photographic or cinematic precedent for these works. To capture naked bodies in such extreme conditions took profound measures of precaution, audacity and sacrifice on the part of all involved.  These pictures feature a hyper-limited palette of colors but finding variations more on the formation of the ice. With this photos, the artist invites the viewer to take part in this sadness: the photos suggest and portray a world more beautiful than our own without offering an access point, and are accordingly charged with a measure of sorrow…
