|Each season, KENZO asks influential creative voices to offer their different perspectives on the collections. This Summer 2017, the brand has commissioned curator and filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr. the design of a project relating to menswear, womenswear and accessories to the “ceremony” notion. With the photographer Ruth Ossai and stylist Ibrahim Kamara, they have immortalized the residents of Nsukka, Nigeria, in a tone of voice that reflects the vision of KENZO beauty. ‘Gidi gidi ugwu bu eze’, Igbo proverb that means ‘Unity is strength’, contains the energy witnessed through images showing the collections of various ceremonies, rites and rituals of Igbo indigenous communities of southern Nigeria.
||Gidi gidi ugwu bu eze, ‘Unity is strength’ is the first edition of KENZO Folio, a quarterly publication devoted entirely to the latest brand look. The focus of the KENZO vision is a love of spontaneous beauty and the discovery of the style in the most unexpected situations. KENZO Folio was envisioned as a tool to frame the stories from the collections season after season through the eyes of a myriad of photographers and emerging and established filmmakers.
