The Floating PiersChristo and Jeanne-Claude

Lake Iseo,
18 June – 13 July, 2016

For 16 days – Lake Iseo will be reimagined. 100,000 square meters of shimmering yellow fabric, carried by a modular floating dock system of high-density poly-ethylene cubes, will undulate with the movement of the waves as The Floating Piers is being installed just above the surface of the water.
Visitors will have the chance to experience this work of art by walking a 3-kilometer-long floating structure going from Sulzano to Monte Isola to the island of San Paolo. And continuing along 1.5 kilometers of pedestrian streets in Sulzano and Peschiera Maraglio. The project has been conceived by the artist Christo Vladimir Yavachev, project manager Josy Kraft and curator Germano Celant that having scouted the lakes of Northern Italy, have found Lake Iseo to be the most inspiring location.
