The Maison Européenne de Photographie presents Mémoire et Lumière, on view until August 27th, a collection dedicated to Japanese photography founded back in 1992 in collaboration with the Japanese society Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd (DNP).
The aim of the collaboration was to enrich the French public collection with a selection of photographs realised by Japanese artists since 1950. Every year, from 1994 to 2006, a couples of artworks were added to the collection which led to the constitution of a consistent body of work made of 540 pieces which reveals the essential role Japanese artists had in the history of worldwide photography.
