“I would love to travel to Hawaii because everybody goes there. So it must be nice there. But even if I could live wherever I wanted in the world, I’d still choose Japan for sure.”

For 22-year-old model Miki Ehara, there’s no place quite like home. Born and raised in Saitama, a one and half hour train ride from Tokyo’s vibrant centre, the raven-haired beauty has lived in the same small town spot her entire life. As a teen, Miki would spend her days buried in Japanese comic books, reading up on her nation’s colourful history, or working in a local sneaker shop. A homebody through and through, the first time she ventured outside of her beloved walls was when she first started modelling, and that was only a year ago. However, since signing to her agency, Donna Models, and making her runway debut (for Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter 17 catwalk no less) she’s been all around the world, and couldn’t be happier for it. Tall, willowy and ethereal, with delicate almond shaped eyes and soft porcelain skin, hers is the kind of ethereal beauty one might expect to find in the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien or George R. R. Martin. Instead you’ll find her gliding down the catwalks of everyone from Christian Dior to Altuzarra, and Hermés.
