Simon Porte Jacquemus is the guest of honor
for the 7th edition of #OpenMyMed festival

Simon Porte Jacquemus has only 20 years old in 2009 when he decided to launch his own brand. From that year, he has never stopped to pay tribute to his native Provence. Through aesthetic willfully naive and poetic creations, references and allusions, his collections have always reminded the famous city of Marseille: “Les Parasols de Marseille”, “Les Santons de Provence” or “L’Amour d’un Gitan”. An eternal lover of Marseille, Simon Porte Jacquemus is the guest of honor at the 7th edition of #OpenMyMed festival, produced by the Maison Méditerranéenne des Métiers de la Mode (MMMM). OpenMyMed rewards young creative talent of Marseille through art and creation in its widest sense; that’s why Jacquemus will open the Provence Festivals season in May with “Marseille je t’aime”, an ambitious project that is based on three exhibitions, one book and a fashion show in the heart of the city.

The exhibition «Maisons» and «Archives» will be presented at the MAC on May 12th, and «Images» at the MuCEM on May 13th. The same day, the SS 2017 collection “Les Santons de Provence” will be shown in the open air through a unique journey that will take place on the parcel that connects the MuCEM to the Place d’armes du Fort Saint-Jean. Finally. Simon has also decided to create a book about Marseille surrounding himself with friends, photographers, painters and contemporary artists.

“LES SANTONS DE PROVENCE IS THE ONE COLLECTION OF MINE THAT WAS ABSOLUTELY MADE
TO BE SHOWN IN MARSEILLE, ON MARCEL PAGNOL’S LAND. IT WAS A DREAM.”
