Originality, conceptual, culture of the copy
17 March  – 28 August, 2016

We all stand on someone else’s shoulders. This is the idea behind L’image volée, a group show curated by the German artist Thomas Demand in the two levels of the Nord gallery at Fondazione Prada in Milan. A meditation on boundaries between originality, conceptual inventiveness, and the culture of the copy.
The exhibition presents 80 works by more than 40 artists working between 1820 and the present day, and focuses on concepts ranging from theft, authorship, annexation, to creative potential.

RATHER THAN AN ENCYCLOPEDIC ANALYSIS, THE EXHIBITION OFFERS VISITORS AN UNORTHODOX INSIGHT INTO A VOYAGE OF ARTISTIC DISCOVERY AND RESEARCH.
