Architecture in Brazil is all a matter of highlighting the landscape and of integration with the surroundings. MAM, the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro is another glaring example. It is the best know work of the architect Rio Affonso Reidy who follows the path of rationalist architecture. Since 1948 it has been the scene of several artistic events of great relevance in Brazilian artistic vanguard. After a tragic fire in 1978 most of it's collection has been lost, nowadays it retains approximately 11.000 objects, mostly from Gilberto Chateaubriand's Collection.
