Born from the rock like a flower blooming, enhancing the beauty of the surrounding landscape, the Niterói Contemporary Art Museum is in perfect harmony with the place where it stands, it's all one with the rock, the sea and the beautiful bay overlooking Rio de Janeiro. As a matter of fact Oscar Niemeyer, the architect who created this "sculpture" says: "It is not the right angle that attracts me, nor the straight line, hard and inflexible, created by man. What attracts me is the free and sensual curve — the curve that I find in the mountains of my country, in the sinuous course of its rivers, in the body of the beloved woman."
