|Gucci presents a new book: Gucci by Harmony Korine, containing photographs taken by the American director, artist and screenwriter. He recently wrote and directed “The Beach Bum”, a film starring Matthew McConaughey and Snoop Dogg and he shot Alessandro Michele‘s Gucci Pre-Fall 2019 Collection in the South of Italy. In the images, the models pose in velvet dresses, richly decorated garments and accessories inspired by the 70s.
The images are set in the ancient cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii. The cover and back of the limited edition photo book are illustrated by Korine. The edges of the pages are colored differently so that when placed side by side, five copies of the book form an image. Each book is presented in a special case, also decorated with illustrations by the artist. Herculaneum and Pompeii, the two ancient Roman cities, both UNESCO World Heritage sites, form the backdrop for the book’s images and were chosen as magical locations. The Creative Director of Gucci is absolutely convinced that the past allows us to understand and imagine the future, and that it is therefore important not to forget or overlook its memory. Gucci by Harmony Korine will be distributed by IDEA Books, from the beginning of June. It will also be available at the Gucci Garden in Florence and at the Gucci Wooster Bookstore in New York.
