FW22 collection was a mainly streetwear-focused wardrobe composed of the stereotypes from the world, at least from a fashion perspective: layered and tiered items, defined silhouettes in contrast with baggy lines. It is a skillful marriage of luxury and utility, sumptuousness and austerity, along with imperfect beauty and humanity. Classicism and subversion play a central role in the creative process of Matthew Williams who combines material experimentation and the timeless techniques of Salon Couture. Simplicity isn’t the first word that comes to mind when you flick through the Givenchy looks. We can say Williams is simply mirroring our current culture’s everyday approach to clothes on a very elevated runway.
“For the Spring-Summer 22 collection, I wanted to build on the tradition of Givenchy’s history while also really looking towards the future. This collection offers people a remarkably immersive and special experience.”
