Drew Jarrett 1994Light and emotion

A near facsimile of an original collaged photo album
of cut contact sheets that Drew made back in time

“The 90’s were a time for me that were more free, less restricted, with little thought to constraints and the realities of life. I was at the top of my profession and less interested in my work at the time, and more into taking loads of pictures, always finding the light and feeling I liked to shoot.”

Drew Jarrett 1994. In the early nineties Drew was a hair stylist. He lived in London with Mario Sorrenti and Glen Luchford, working with them and also with Mark Lebon and Corinne Day amongst others. Whilst on these shoots Drew was taking photographs himself. Constantly travelling and taking pictures, shortly photographing, creating art and making books became Drew’s life.

This book published by IDEA is a near facsimile of an original collaged photo album of cut contact sheets that Drew made and completed in 1994. Showing beautiful, candid, early pictures of Kate Moss, Stella Tennant, Milla Jovovich, Kirsten Owen…The new book was designed by Dean Langley who also art directed Drew’s previous book Guinevere.

“I found a consistent softness that came from not overworking my compositions and instead acting from a feeling innocence of light and emotion.”
