A technologically complex project
that engages visitors senses

Dreamlands: Immersive Cinema and Art, 1906-2016, introduced by the Whitney Museum of American Art, focuses on the way in which artists have transformed and reassembled the conventions of cinema in order to create new experiences of the moving image, giving space to the exploration of the transition from analog to virtual. On view from October 28th 2016 to February 5th 2017, Dreamlands connects different historical moments of cinematic experimentation and represents the most technologically complex project mounted in the Whitney’s new building as the works on view involve color, touch, music, light, darkness, three dimension and abstraction in order to confound visitors’s expectations.

“DREAMLANDS BRINGS TOGETHER A GROUP OF ARTISTS WHOSE WORK ARTICULATES THE PROFOUND SHIFT THAT HAS TAKEN PLACE AS TECHNOLOGY HAS ALTERED THE WAYS IN WHICH SPACE AND THEIMAGE ARE CONSTRUCTED AND EXPERIENCED” – WHITNEY’S
CURATOR CHRISSIE ILES
