|“The bond between Karl Lagerfeld and FENDI is the longest love story in fashion, which will continue to touch our lives for years to come. I am deeply saddened by her disappearance and extremely touched by her dedication and perseverance lavished to the end. When we heard, a few days before the show, her only thoughts were dedicated to the richness and beauty of the Collection. It is a true testimony of his personality. She will be very much missing.” Silvia Venturini Fendi
The FENDI Fall/Winter 2019-2020 Women’s Collection is the latest designed by Karl Lagerfeld, and represents a lifetime of dedication and creativity, from 1965 to the present day. In his perennial search for beauty and innovation, Karl’s dedication to his art has never faded. This collection embodies that devotion, from the sketches of the season to his last FENDI gesture: the romantic trace of a silk scarf. Every expression, reflected in a multitude of ideas, is intrinsically, forever its own.
| The tailored garments, with pagoda shoulder, zip and double-breasted, are tightened at the waist and feature floating belts with bows. In cotton poplin and fine leather, the pointed collars of the shirts are buttoned high, in the inimitable style of Karl. Diamond geometries abound in the changing lines of transparencies, pleats and frames, transposed one above the other, like wallet skirts with cannon pleats, monogrammed tulle suits and laser-cut leather shoulder pieces. Designed in 1981, Karl’s italic FF ‘Karligraphy’ logo appears on cabochon buttons and inlaid furs, while high-necked shift dresses whisper through diaphanous silk and honeycomb lace.
The FENDI Fall/Winter 2019-2020 Women’s Accessories present many new features: the Baguette is transformed into embossed patent leather, vegetable leather stitched with a functional shoulder strap. A spacious metal frame tote, in glossy calfskin or with Pequin stripes in sheepskin, folds into a clutch, while the Peekaboo recalls the carving techniques of the Collection.
