from the series Women’s Tale.

A London’s factory serves as the scenario for a very special production, where Brigitte Lacombe – one of the world’s most famous portraits photographers, steps in front of the camera to offer an insight into her creative life at work. Miu Miu presented the 18th short film, part of the Women’s Tale series, in Venice during the International Film Festival. The film is directed by Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay whose work has been awarded in the past at Cannes and Venice Film Festival. In her creation Lynne wanted to “show the artifice of the shoot, but also to cast characters that I’d cast in one of my films“.

While Lacombe speaks openly about her life and ideas with the director, the viewer is offered a rare opportunity to see her at work, in her intimate and personal way of approaching her subjects. A conversation about how her images are born accentuates the monochromatic mood of the film and illuminates the directorial look of Brigitte, her creative thinking and above all her fascination with on the theme of sisterhood. A world that has its roots in the idea of family, work, sacrifice and creative collaborations. To serve this purpose, the cast includes Briggite’s sister Marian and other pairs of sisters, some related by blood and some at heart.
