Back to 1978Anthony Vaccarello and his shiny black generation

Remembering the suggestive Seventies and its symbols
across the Hudson.

“New York is freedom, a city brimming with energy and possibilities: the perfect backdrop to frame the spirit of this menswear collection. Crossing wardrobe boundaries, dressing women too.” -Anthony Vaccarello

Anthony Vaccarello showed his Saint Laurent Spring/Summer 2019 menswear collection in New Jersey’s Liberty State Park. The night gave a suggestive atmosphere which fitted with the black shiny Vaccarello’s generation. The designer envisioned an urban macadam cowboy and a seventies spirit evoked by short jackets paired with high-waisted trousers. The iconic saharienne deeply explored and reinterpreted. Intricate embroideries and refined textures emphasize the sharp attitude of the collection. During the final young 70’s men were walking in their disco-ball silver body paint, in front of the spectacular Manhattan skyline. The designer wanted to represent his idea of New york, when Studio 54 was filled up by best iconic of the time.
