A new-age revival defines the Chloé collection for spring summer 2019, as Natacha Ramsay-Levi invokes the subliminal pull of hippie modernism.
The Chloé girl departs on a mediterranean journey under the sun, grounded in earthly delights. Reflecting on souvenirs of counter culture, the collection pulses with solar energy and the avant-garde constructs of sensuality, femininity, and utopian progress. Considering the lives and art forms of free-spirited women, garments are touched by ancient textures: scarf silks, carpet jacquard, ikat, laddered linen and plissé mousseline create a sensory overload of wrapped and bias-cut layering. In a sequence of progressive chapters, hues diffuse through ceramic neutrals to sunset shades of orange, terracotta, and faded blues. Against an ombré sky, the silhouette of raised hands depicts an inclusive symbol of the sacred feminine. Romantic gowns ripple in rococo weaves and paint-dipped tiers, as shell embroideries and gem harnesses echo the imperfect decoration of eclectic bijoux: femininities and amulets that radiate with emotion.
